For example, a graphite-based medium (e.g, pencil, charcoal), ink-based medium (e.g, pen, screen print) , paint-based medium (e.g, watercolors, oils including pastels), mixed media or other. ☆ Icons: 10 Shading or rendering: +2 ☆ Headshots: 15 Shading: +3 Rendering: + 5 ☆ Busts: 20 Shading: +3 Rendering: +5 ☆ Halfbody: 30 Shading: +5 Rendering: +10 ☆ Fullbody: 50 Shading: +10 Rendering: +20 ☆ Full scenes: 70 Shading: +15 Rendering: +30 Digital: A 2D art piece that has been created with digital tools. This includes art that was drawn on a piece of paper and lined/colored digitally. This does not include using a scanner service to make your traditional art look more visible on the paper. ☆ Icons: 10 Shading or rendering: +2 ☆ Headshots: 15 Rendering: + 5 ☆ Busts: 20 Shading: +2 Rendering: +6 ☆ Halfbody: 30 Shading: +4 Rendering: +12 ☆ Fullbody: 50 Shading: +8 Rendering: +24 ☆ Full scenes: 70 Shading: +10 Rendering: +40 [For further information, scroll to the DEFINITIONS section] [Small animation +20] Sculpture: A 3D art piece that has sides and dimensions, not art painted to look 3D. This includes clay, paper mache, and digital tools such as Blender. Pop-up drawings or paper dolls, depending on the complexity, may fit into this category. If this paper construction (pop-up/paper doll) has three or less distinct layers, it will instead fit into the traditional category with a 1.25x bonus. Adding color to the 3D art piece is a 1.2x bonus for digital and a 1.3x bonus for traditional mediums (ex. clay and paper mache). ☆ Headshots: 30 Rendering: +7 ☆ Busts: 35 Rendering: +8 ☆ Halfbody: 45 Rendering: +16 ☆ Fullbody: 60 Rendering: +26
Animation: An art piece that can be any medium, as long as it displays movement. Tweening, traditional stop motion, and frame-by-frame are all counted as animation. Small details (like a wink or tail flip) do not count as a full animation. Animations are difficult to score due to the different techniques that may be used. The general guidelines are as follows: ☆ Tweening and frame-by-frame will not be scored with one having higher points than the other. Traditional stop motion, however, will be multiplied by 1.2x. Blatant point farming (e.g, drawing simple characters using a simple range of motion that barely meets criteria) will be given 0.5x points the first time as a warning, and will not be scored at all if there is a second offense. ☆ For digital animation, use the digital guideline above. For traditional, use the traditional guideline above. The main focus of the animation will be scored (for example, if a halfbody is the main focus.) If there are multiple focuses, they will be added to the score as well. ☆ Full scenes in animation are scored differently. Full scenes: 50 Shading: +20 Rendering: +40 ☆ 30 seconds or less will have a 1x score multiplier. 30 seconds to 2 minutes will have a 1.5x score multiplier. Anything over 2 minutes will have a 2x score multiplier. When filling in animations for your point form, please use an estimate (or a range). If you believe your animation has not been scored properly, please file a dispute with a different mod to get them to review the scoring. Animations will not be counted by individual frames this year. DEFINITIONS ☆ Shading: Determines where the light source is located and creates the distinction between light and dark areas. Includes hatching, cross-hatching, smooth gradients, and hard-edged shadows (like cel shading). Rendering: While shading focuses purely on light and shadow, rendering encompasses more visual elements. Rendering shows texture (such as fabric or hair). Beginner rendering will be counted the same as any other rendering, as long as a clear attempt is made. 3D rendering is any attempt to show texture, such as hatching. Small animation: Something like a tail flip or a wink. A small animation will be given +20 points regardless of the base complexity.* Full scenes: Must include a background that the character is largely interacting with. It must be clear that the character is interacting with the background. For example, they should be sitting on the stones of a river rather than just having a river in the background. The character does not necessarily have to be a fullbody. EXTRA RULES ☆ These rules have been created in response to the point farming that happened last year. I will include a reason as to why. ☆ Lineless art will no longer count as extra points. I don’t want anybody to change their art style in order to get more points. Additionally, some people’s art styles are already lineless, and this is an unfair advantage. ☆ You may only draw the same character three times maximum. (A change from five.) Beyond that, it will not be scored. Please try and draw other people’s designs, and not just your friends/the same simple ones. ☆ Simple characters (a ladybug, a butterfly, Hammy) will count as 0.5x the points, unless it’s a full scene. The specific criteria for simple characters will be obvious; if you have to ask if it’s a simple character, it’s probably not.
