chimerism in cats is caused by a rare genetic mutation that results in a striking pelt pattern with mostly their face being one color on one side and another color on the other. the line separating the two colors is often straight down the middle. chimera cats happen when two separate embryos fuse together in the very early stages of pregnancy. the merged embryo develops into one single kitten, carrying two different sets of dna. thus the result of their unique fur pattern. they also commonly have heterochromia, though, having heterochromia doesn't always mean chimerism. chimerism isn't generally considered a health problem, as many can live normal lives with an average lifespan. there are no different behavioral or temperamental changes recorded from chimeras. though male chimera cats can possibly experience infertility. overall this shouldn't affect arctickit in her daily life.
