Haii <3 and welcome to Kin chapter two! The amber eyes came closer, but I couldn't back up, or I'd fall into the lake. It turned out to be an actual coyote. I gasped with fear, as my body slipped off the edge, and before I could save myself, I was dangling of the stone ledge, overlooking the lake. The coyote came closer and my hand slipped. A hand grabbed my hand and pulled me up. It was a girl in a fox mask. "I got ya," she said. The coyote shrank back into the darkness of the forest, and my vision became blurry, and dark spots started to take over my sight, then everything went black. I woke up with the girl sitting next to me. "You ok?" she asked. I rubbed my head and said, "yea, I'm fine." I tried to sit up, but sat down again because of a stabbing pain. "You're bleeding," she said with concern. "I'm fine," I hissed through gritted teeth. I remembered what my brother said before he d!ed. He had said, "One must never show a weakness to someone you don't know." and I planned to listen to him. I looked around. Food, clothes, shoes. "Do you live here?" I ask. The girl looked away, "yes, and before you ask, my name is Maple." "That wasn't what I wanted to ask," I said, flinching from her defensiveness, "why do you live here?" "My parents were poor, so they decided to live in the forest for more foraging, but when I was ten, they got sick of the forest and left me here." "Oh," I said quietly, "I'm sorry." "Well I'm not," Maple said, grinning bitterly. She went off to go foraging, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
