Update with Tranquil Night I started backing Dark in my last update with him, and can tell that he'd been backed before, but I finish what start, so here we are. I got Dark fully tacked up and brought him to the dressage arena, where I mounted him. I gave him a gentle nudge with my heels and Dark started at a brisk trot. Surprised, I pulled back gently and Dark stopped. He was much more forward than I was expecting. Being much more cautious this time, I gently told Dark to walk. This time, he did. I walked him in a circle and Dark responded smoothly, and he's definitely the most forward and sensitive horse I've ridden. I asked for a trot and he moved to a fast, high stepping trot, and I steered him o the edge, before going a lap around then moving into the canter. This session with Dark was great, and I can't wait to work with him more! (I already have a few ideas on what I want to wok on next time.)
