(TW: a lil bit of ketchup, w4r not this chapter seeing as it is the intro but…later) (This is a romantasy, not this chap but trust it comes) Shadows of flame chapter.1 Autumn awakes to the sound of footsteps-not surprising seeing as she slept in a freaking tent with a million over girls, but still it was remarkably annoying- she groaned and rolled out of bed, juniper-her best and only friend in the horrid place- appeared in the corner of her eye, “Morning sleepyhead!” She beams as usual Autumn rubs her eyes and yawns “how are you this cheerful in the morning?” She asks for the millionth time “Huh?” Juniper asked as she pulled on her combat boots “oh! Yeah Im just like that i guess” she answers this conversation had become more of a routine for the two of them and Juniper always answers the same exact way “Thats what you always say, but seriously, how do you do it” Autumn asks quickly pulling her hair up into a messy ponytail as her friend shrugs “We best be going” Juniper tells her finishing up everything “Already?” Autumn was still waking up “You slept in pretty late, now hurry we can’t be late today” Juniper rushes out leaving Autumn bitterly confused she pulled on her boots an hurried out The two of them stood in formation the wind blowing harshly in their faces as the General marches down the line, if you asked Autumn it was pretty cliche but of course no one asked Autumn, it quickly came apart too her that after today nothing would be the same, today they claim their seal- a sign of power and respect your seal not only chooses where you work and how you live for the rest of your life, but it also chooses who you spend your life with , its a awful process but it’s necessary if you want to live- The General steps back to explain “until recently young girls like yourselves wets not alowed to train, that ends now, you are the first of your gender to learn to fight, and fly” Autumn sucks in a breath as a wall of fire welcomes the dragons,if you didn’t you would be better off as dead, scales of all colors shimmered in the hot sun as the ferocious bests stepped forward. “These” the general spoke “are dragons, they are fierce and more powerful than an entire army, but they are also connected to us in ways that cannot be put into words, and most importantly if one bonds with you, you two are connected for life and if your dragon so do you” his odds echoed across the clearing and Autumn flinched at the realization. “Today not only does a dragon choose you, but you shall be placed among us, a rider, and a member of our cities, but first you most pass the trials” Autumn’s eyes widen and Junipers jaw hit the floor as the world around them erupts into flame, autumn new better then to react but the look on the generals face told her that while she had remained stone others had not. The fire slowly died down and Autumn relaxed thankful for the relief even though smoke clouded her eyes and made it difficult to breathe, she was alive. And in this place that really is the only thing that matters
