Endurance (1912 ship) was a three-masted wooden ship built in Norway in 1912 for polar exploration. Originally named Polaris, it was later bought by explorer Ernest Shackleton and renamed Endurance. The ship was specially designed to sail through thick Antarctic ice, with a strong wooden hull and both steam and sail power. During the 1914 Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, the ship became trapped in pack ice in the Weddell Sea and was eventually crushed and sunk in 1915. The wreck of the ship was discovered in 2022, more than 100 years later, remarkably well preserved beneath the Antarctic Ocean.
