On June 19, 1865, the news of slavery's end finally reached Texas, indicating the end of the gruesome, dehumanizing practice of slave labor. This was only the beginning. Even after slavery was abolished, Black people across the U.S. faced tremendous difficulties. Racial violence, the KKK, job and education discrimination still plagued America. But with activists like MLK, Rosa Parks and Ruby bridges paving the way for millions, the dream of equality was closer than ever Still, the fight wasn't over. Even now, racism is still haunting neighborhoods today. with racial profiling and over policing being ingrained to so many communities. Now we have a job to do, to call out racism in our society, to spread awareness about rising racial problems today. Today is a reminder that the path towards equality is still far away, and it's our responsibility to make sure that our descendants live in a world that is fair and loving to all. In the next slide, there's a protest banner that you can remix and list a racial injustice that you've seen in your community, or even on the news. I hope that it can inspire you to take a stand.
