I squint at the sun, wiping sweat from my brow. "May Bell!" I hear my brother call. I straighten my bonnet, casting shadows over my eyes so I can see him standing in the doorway of our hut. "Coming!" I call, waving my shepherd's crook to tell him I see him. I herd the rest of my sheep into their pens, singing softly to them. As I'm walking back to my hut, I look down and see bundles of colorful flowers cheerfully swaying around me. I gasp and gather a handful, then run the rest of the way back. Bursting through the door, I shout, "Sparrow! Look what I've found!" I spread the flowers over the wooden table as Sparrow steps into the room. He gasps. "May flowers!" I nod, beginning to eagerly weave them into two flower crowns. I place one on top of Sparrow's head, then nestle the other into my own dark hair. Sparrow has a surprise for me too, I quickly find, as he opens his fist to reveal a handful of coins. My eyes widen and I count them up. "We can finally go to the carnival," I say, looking up at him. He grins and wraps me in a hug. May Bell lives with her younger brother Sparrow, in a secluded field. She has many sheep that she takes care of. They don't have much money, but they both make it however they can. The carnival is the most impressive thing for miles, and they both want to visit it very badly. Anyway here's my entry for May :3
