Chapter One: The Handy-Man's Kindness ZELDA'S POV: I walked into the apartment building and headed up the stairs. My phone rang and I pulled it out. "ᴢᴇʟᴅᴀ, ᴊᴜsᴛ ᴛᴏ ʟᴇᴛ ʏᴏᴜ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ɪ'ʟʟ ʙᴇ ᴄᴏᴍɪɴɢ ᴏᴠᴇʀ. ɪ ᴄᴀɴ'ᴛ ᴡᴀɪᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴍᴇᴇᴛ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʙᴏʏғʀɪᴇɴᴅ!" Mom's voice rang excitedly. "ᴏ-ᴏʜ! ᴡʜᴇɴ ᴀʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴏᴍɪɴɢ ᴏᴠᴇʀ?" I asked, getting nervous. "ɪ'ʟʟ ʙᴇ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ɪɴ ᴀɴ ʜᴏᴜʀ!" she replied. "ᴀ-ᴀʟʀɪɢʜᴛ, ᴄᴀɴ'ᴛ ᴡᴀɪᴛ ғᴏʀ ʏᴏᴜ ᴛᴏ ᴍᴇᴇᴛ ʜɪᴍ!" I smiled hanging up. I rushed up the stairs and to my apartment. After setting my stuff down I went to the sink. I turned the handle and water squirted out. 'Crap! The handy-man is gonna come today!' I thought, quickly turning off the sink. I cleaned up the water as the doorbell rang. I went to the door and saw the handy-man. "H-hi! Thanks for coming!" I smiled, letting him inside. "Just to make sure, Zelda, correct?" he asked, as he walked over to the sink. "Y-yeah," I replied, nodding. He nodded and went to work. I paced around thinking of what I could tell mom when she'd arrive. "AH! Stupid pipe," the handy-man muttered, as the doorbell rang. "Zelda? You home?" Mom's voice rang. "Y-yeah!" I replied, getting nervous. The handy-man stood up and glanced at me. "Alright let's try this," he sighed, turning the faucet. Water poured normally and mom knocked the door again. "Zelda?" she asked. "H-hey, I'll pay you extra if you pretend to be my boyfriend?" I asked the handy-man, biting my lip. He raised his brow and whispered, "You really need this, huh?" I nodded getting more nervous. He shrugged and whispered, "You don't gotta pay me, always willing to help someone." I smiled and whispered, "Thank you! I will definitely pay you back!" He nodded and I opened the door. Mom smiled and the handy-man smiled, "Hi, you must be Zelda's mother, I'm Link." Mom smiled and shook his hand. "Sorry, about my clothes, Zelda had me come over to help fix her sink," he chuckled, smiling. LINK'S POV: After Zelda's mom left Zelda turned to me. "I'm so sorry! You can go now," she chuckled, she was definitely embarrassed. "It's fine, really...but about paying me back, my sister's getting married and she thinks I have a girlfriend. Y-you don't have to do it! J-just though I'd ask!" I stuttered, getting embarrassed. Zelda raised her brow, "How can I trust you?" "Oh, reasonable question. Here, the wedding invitation," I sighed, showing her my phone. She nodded. "Alright, see you there," she smiled, giving me her number. I nodded and headed home.
