PS READ NOTES AND CREDITS FIRST Hooligan is post-trauma madness applied to song. Hooligan represents "jamais vu", as in, music was their life, but ever since hiatus, it's become a bit foreign to them, a bit foreign to come back together again. This madness + jamais vu creates Hooligan, chaotic and mad, but also foreign, as if this was their first album ever. Hooligan is a national treasure because whenever you feel outrageously angry, listen to Hooligan, because Hooligan's lyrics can refer to some "mad dancing." It is the 3rd most important message (1. Swim = title track, 2. Body to Body - arirang) because it quickly showcases that in this album, they don't care about trends, or whatever, they just want to have fun and relinquish their sadness, anger, and more with this carefree song. It's one of those songs that want people to look at them and kinda admire them, the same after the military. It's crazy because BTS are going crazy. They are on a whirlwind. They started off with an anthem, and something more grounded, body to body, and then they just couldn't contain their excitement that they're back and released the good ol 'hooligan. [2] Hooligan is kind've like surviving a trauma, taking a deep breath, and then suddenly bursting into "unhinged" laughter. They aren't trying to set trends or impress the Grammys/other award shows here. They are using the track to exorcise their anger, burnout, and excitement through unapologetic noise and "mad dancing." They’ve done their time, they’ve faced burnout, and now they are just throwing paint at the walls. It’s the type of energy that only comes after you’ve lost your mind and found it again.
this is not a lyric analysis, this is my personal thoughts on maybe some emotions they could've wanted to convey indirectly
