Wow. Just wow. I will admit this was not my favorite episode, but it was really REALLY good. Also there will be spoilers I don’t know how to talk about it without them So I guess I’ll talk about what I didn’t like and then talk about what I did like. So first off, the pacing is really weird. They completely skip Jax’s abstraction and go straight to them watching him rampage. Like what? I didn’t even process it was him at first like he just said “nah nevermind” and then immediately lost it. It felt really rushed like they wanted to make sure it wasn’t an hour long or something. Also the part of opening a bunch of doors to see what he thought about everyone was really weak. Like REALLY weak. The only one I liked was the looney tunes part because I really like looney tunes and even then it felt weird and like it was a parody. Do you know how hard it is to make me have a blank face when watching a looney tunes short. Yeah I know it isn’t one but it’s very clearly meant to have the same style. It just got really repetitive and we didn’t even see what he thought of Kinger. Just felt really poorly made if that makes sense. Second, the music is not that great. Not the songs in the background no those are good, but the ones with lyrics. I don’t know if they are but hey gave off the vibe of licensed music and bad licensed music at that but at least they are good on their own. It pails in comparison to Running the Show and even some fan songs would have fit better. And apparently this is a common complaint, but I don’t like how Jax focused it is. I get all the others have sort of ended their arcs but I honestly forgot they were there for a while. Any now why I love this episode!!! The animation is gorgeous omg, it’s insane. I know it’s a moot point talking about it but it’s because it’s true. Also the part with Jax and Ribbit opening up was just…perfect. Like genuinely perfect. I think, despite it being the worst part of the episode by far, the sequence inside Jax’s head was really well animated even if it got boring after a while. All the characters were great if sidelined. And the ending sequence with the projectors genuinely got be a but teared up. I don’t really know what else to say, I really loved it and thought it was amazing. digitalcircusThough I do have one last gripe. WHY DIDN’T GUMIGOO RETURN AT THE END THEY LET THE GLOINK QUEEN COME BACK BUT NOT GUMIGOO WHYYYYY!!!But they did kinda confirm Abstragaty at the end so it balances out. 8/10 might change but I thought it was good. I did prefer some earlier episodes though. This show genuinely changed my life. It brought me to meet so many people and allowed me to truly realize my love for art and storytelling and is probably my favorite show of all time. God’s speed TADC, God’s speed.
