Welcome to the assignment portal! Guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uLM_6iujPM This is only for members of the SMBR Dev Team. _____________________________________________ For each assignment, make a project for your submission. Assignment Meanings! Engineering Department: Make A Simple Game Engine! (Complete) Mario World Physics! Using Nox's game engine (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1184416462/), try and recreate the physics Mario has in Super Mario World. You don't have to change the sprites, that will be handled via Art & Animation. Everybody in the department can work on this. Design Department: No current tasks at hand! Design Department work will start whenever a level concept is made and the engine is finished. Means can be made for designing levels outside of Scratch, but depending on your access, some may not be able to use this means. Soundtrack Department: Main Theme! Try and make a main theme for the game. Up to two people can work on this assignment. Use a retro music composition site like beepbox.co. Or just make the sheet music, we can translate it into a retro style later. Menu Theme! (Complete) Creative Department: Create Level Ideas! There are currently nine worlds on the table. Their themes (in respective order) are Beach, Plains, Forest, Mountain, Snow, Desert, Underground, Volcano, and Special. Try and come up with as many level ideas as you like! You must include the name, world theme, and main concept. There is no limit as to how many people can do this assignment. (Working: Coding_Capybara2359) Playable Characters! Try and think up how many characters should be playable in this game. Art & Animation Department: Basic Mario Sprites! Make some basic concepts for Mario sprites. The style we're aiming for here is Super Mario World. Up to five people can work on this assignment.
If you claim an assignment but can't finish it, let us know! It is completely okay if you can't. Just share the work you have done and we can relieve you of the assignment. Assignments don't have to be done by a certain timeframe. We understand that this is a volunteer project and that everyone has a life outside of Scratch (even I have a life full of stuff!), and that is why we don't have deadlines. However, please ensure that you can get your assignment done within a reasonable amount of time, especially in the Engineering, Creative, and Design Departments. Your work is the backbone of everything else. But never rush your work - quality over quantity! Thanks to Nintendo for the music!
