Emily yelped, combing her hair frantically. She sloppily packed a sandwich and juice, stuffed it in their lunchbox, shoved that in their backpack, and ran out the door. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the bus wasn't keen on waiting. "WAIT!!!" Emily shouted desperately, running as fast as she could. But, of course, because the universe had a funny sense of humor, Emily fell in a puddle of dirty water and officially missed the bus. "Oh poo," she muttered, picking herself up. "Now I'll have to go back and change! I can't come to school in this! I'll catch the last bus stop. It's near here somewhere..." Emily dragged themselves back to their house, hoping the actual school day wasn't as bad as this. As the bus dropped Emily off at their new school, she kept their head high and strutted inside, feeling a new surge of confidence. But as she looked around at their fellow classmates, something felt....off. "Why do they all have cat ears?" she wondered, examining their fellow students. "And tails?? Was it a costume day today?" After she roamed the school nervously for a few minutes, Emily packed up all their courage and walked up to a girl blabbering to her friends. "Um, excuse me," Emily whispered quietly, "do you know where room...." She glanced at their schedule. "067 is?" The girl stopped talking and glared at Emily with her piercing orange eyes. "Why are you talking to me, you..." She studied Emily. "OH MY GOSH! Are you a.....a.....HUMAN?!?" The girl said "human" like someone would say "mass reporter." "Are you...not a human?" "Of course not! Girlies, hear this girl. She thinks ME, the renowned wolf Iseul Kim, is a mere, puny, HUMAN!" Iseul turned back to face Emily. "What is your name?" "E-Emily." "That's such a UGLY name!" Iseul sneered. "Don't talk to me ever again, disgusting POO, unless me and my girlies will SLIME YOU! Got that?" Emily nodded and fled to somehow find their class on their own. Class was 20 minutes in when Emily finally found their class. "I thought this time would never come!" She thought happily. Then she knocked on the door. No one answered. She knocked on the door again. No one answered. She knocked and kicked the door. No one answered. She pulled on the door handle. And someone answered, catching Emily by surprise. The person who opened the door was so strong, she accidentally lifted Emily off their feet and swung them across the room, the BOOM! from Emily falling down piercing the silence. "Pfft---HAHAHAHAHA!" A girl bursts out laughing, making Emily's humiliation worse. "Blossom, shut up---hehehehehe," another girl giggled before the whole classroom erupted in laughter, even the teacher. Emily wished she could dig up a hole in the ground and bury themselves in it. "Sorry about that, are you ok?" The girl who opened the door asked, reaching out a hand to help Emily up. Emily blushed faintly and took the girl's hand before tripping and falling back on the floor. "You're clumsy, aren't you?" The girl said, her wolf tail wagging slightly. "I'm Aeri, What's your name?" Emily wasn't listening, instead getting lost in the wolf's calm tone and their gentle, soothing amber eyes. "Hello?" "What?? Oh, um, I'm....I am.....My name is.....uh....." Emily stammered. "Emily." "Emily. That's a pretty name," Aeri smiled, making Emily blush an even deeper shade of red. "T-Thank you." "No problem. Teacher, where does this girl sit?" Aeri asked, not breaking away from Emily's flustered gaze. The teacher looked at his seating chart. "Right next to you, alpha." Aeri's eyes lit up. "Good. Emily, if you'll follow me." Aeri brought Emily up to their feet and started to walk, gesturing for Emily to walk with her. Emily began to walk, bumped into a table, and fell for the 3rd time in a few minutes, papers on the desk falling onto their head. Aeri closed their eyes and smiled, trembling slightly from the effort not to laugh. Another girl next to the girl named Blossom stood up and shouted, "FAHHH!" "Oh my gosh, Agnes, shut up," grumbled Blossom. "Agnes, shush!" said another girl behind Agnes. "How about you shut up, Ayame, the moment called for it!" "Agnes." Aeri side-eyed her, making Agnes slump back in her seat. "No." "S-Sorry, alpha...." Agnes mumbled. "Don't mind them. What will we do with you, Emily?" Aeri mused, picking Emily up and carrying them bridal-style. "Do I have to carry you like this everywhere?" Their tail started to wag again. "It's fine.
