A very realistic demonstration of Chromatography I made a few years ago! (Click to start animation) Chromatography is a technique used to separate and identify liquids from each other. In this case we use the diffusion of water across a paper sheet to separate the dyes in a marker. Here we can see that the purple dye is more attracted to the water than the magenta dye.
