In Star Trek V, Kirk attempts to free solo El Capitan. As a climber (and a fan of the Spock/Kirk ship) I think Spock should have been belaying him! So here is my drawing of Spock lead belaying Captain Kirk. Keep reading for my unnecessary rant about why Spock should belay Kirk. Spock cares deeply about Kirk's safety and well-being, and Kirk trusts him with his life. Spock is also very technically skilled and competent. If Kirk is going to be climbing, I think Spock would volunteer to belay him to keep him safe, and Kirk would trust Spock to do so. Spock would also be a very competent belayer generally.
