- Will o' Wisp Acres Updates - - Update 54 | Flatwork with Sterling - - - - Sterling is one of our best jumpers at Will o' Wisp Acres, so today I decided to change up the pace a little and instead focus on some ground manners and dressage skills with him. Sterling is a very bossy stallion and requires a strong rider to keep control of him, and so he gets a little tricky to handle when it comes to stuff like this. I lunged him briefly beforehand, both to warm him up and hopefully get some of his energy out so he was a bit more behaved. To start off I nudged him forward into a trot, and we did a few zig-zags across the arena. I slowed to a walk again and then cued him straight into a canter, practicing with our larger gait changes. We went to the centre and practiced a little piaffe, although Sterling was not a fan of that and tossed his head up. I kicked us back into a canter and went for a few more rounds before trying again, and he did it better, but not perfect. The whole session lasted about half an hour, and he got plenty of treats after his cooldown. Despite not being the best today, we'll continue to keep working on his dressage and ground skills to hopefully make him into a star eventer! - - - Sterling: @Everlark_On_Fire Rider Base: @MythtopianPegasus Tack, BG, Rider Adjustments: @Stxrry-Nightz- - - -
