Lore: During the war, the monsters decided that devastation would occur if they continued the fight. So, to minimize casualties, they offered a peace treaty. The monsters would willingly be sealed into the underground, in exchange for (1) materials to be brought down for 2 years to help them survive, and (2) multiple human children with different souls. Many humans rebelled, but they had no choice but accept it. They shipped supplies to the underground, and parents said goodbye to their children. Years passed, and Chara, 8 years old in this au, (and is also canonically male) had their little sister, Sarah, be born. When Sarah was only 4 months old, Chara had a nocturnal seizure, and also began sleepwalking, all the way to Mt. Ebott. He fell down into the underground, and landed on the stone, breaking his spine. He somehow survived, and started screaming out of pain. Meanwhile, Asriel, taking a walk since he couldn’t sleep, heard the screams and rushed to get Toriel and Asgore. They weren’t too happy about being woken up, but when they saw Chara, they immediately rushed to his side. He had those full body pajamas on, and was sobbing for help. They tried to help him, but everyone knew he was dying. Chara said his last wish was to see his parents, one last time. All of a sudden, Asriel became determined to fulfill Chara’s wish. He absorbed Chara’s soul, and, apologizing, took his parents’ souls too, knocking them unconscious. He tried to fly up to break the border, but Toriel and Asgore’s souls started to rebel, as they were unsure what was happening. Then, their souls shot out of Asriel’s control, causing his body to turn to normal out of shock. He fell to the ground, dying instantly, and Chara died right after. When Toriel and Asgore woke up, they realized what they had done, and ran away out of grief. Toriel retired to the Ruins and locked the door, while Asgore ran to the castle, locked himself in his room, and never came out. 12 years after THAT, Sarah is living a happy life, not remembering her older brother. She also had a peculiar interest of monsters, but could never see one. Then, all of a sudden, her parents told her they were getting divorced. Her life and joy instantly shattered. Sarah screamed, and asked why they didn’t tell her before. She grabbed her backpack and notebook. Before her parents could stop her, she ran out the door. She arrived at Mt. Ebott, and stopped. She knew her parents would arrive soon, and she tied a low hanging vine around her. She had a plan, go down, see a monster, climb back up. Of course, the vine, at about halfway down, started to get flimsy. Sarah, afraid, began to climb up, but the vine snapped, of course. When she woke up, she realized she couldn’t get out, so she began to walk around, looking for an exit. Then, she saw a tiny flower, wearing a crown… A lot of things have changed in the underground. After Asriel and Chara died, a mysterious cancer spread through the underground. Papyrus and Alphys agreed to help victims, but, in the process, they got the cancer, and died, leaving Sans and Undyne devastated. Now, Sans is infected, Flowey is king, and everything is going to chaos. It’s up to Sarah to restore the underground… before it’s too late.
