(Click for a call) === SCARY STORY TIME WITH CS :DDD === "As night falls upon the lush yet unforgiving ecosystem of Hell Creek, various creatures awaken from their slumber to hunt, using the darkness to conceal themselves from unsuspecting prey. One of these animals is an adolescent Tyrannosaurus; one that had just recently left his family to strike out on his own. Whilst he is still quite tiny in relation to his parents, he is still an excellent hunter, utilizing his superb senses of sight and small to locate prey before using his speed to run them down. Despite this, however, he still remains wary of one particular creature... Having successfully bringing down a Pachycephalosaurus underneath the dark, rainy sky, the prince settles down for his dinner. If he could just finish this meal without interruption, he could possibly go for a few days without having to feed. Unfortunately, he isn't the only creature who is currently active at night, and he is also not the only predator who knows there's a potential meal nearby. Just as the Tyrannosaurus is about to feast, a rustle in the bushes in front of him catches his attention. The prince freezes, his mind racing and thinking about all of his possible options. Should he stand his ground or flee with his life intact? However, he quickly settles on a decision as a tall, lanky figure walked out of the brush: one with an ominous, skull-like face that stared straight back at him with black, seemingly empty eye sockets. As soon as the prince had turned tail and began to flee, the horrific creature had given chase. The prince knew that he would need a one in a million chance miracle if he were to make it out of this chase alive. He had seen this creature in action several times throughout his life; it was a secondary tyrant that would terrorize anything that was smaller than it and bullied larger creatures in large gangs. It was a beast who terrorized him and his siblings when he was far younger, ambushing them from the foliage and quickly slinking away once his parents arrived to protect him. It was the Reaper of Hell Creek itself: a Nanotyrannus..." === Nanotyrannus (/ˈnænoʊˌtaɪˌrænəs, -tɪ- /, NAN-o-ti-RAN-us) is a genus of tyrannosauroid dinosaur that lived in what is now western North America during the Maastrichtian age of the Late Cretaceous, 67 to 66 million years ago. Its fossils are known from the Hell Creek Formation. It was one of the last-known non-avian dinosaurs and lived until the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event. The first named species, N. lancensis, was described as a new species of Gorgosaurus in 1946 by Charles W. Gilmore based on a single skull. Re-examination of the specimen in 1988 by Robert T. Bakker, Michael Williams and Philip J. Currie moved the species to a new genus of tyrannosaurid, named Nanotyrannus in reference to its small body size compared to other tyrannosaurids.
If this is used, give me credit. Same goes for the juvenile T. rex inside the project. Description totally wasn't inspired by Liam Vickers. Music: Jurassic Park === TRIVIA === This is possibly the edgiest dinosaur vector that I've made so far lol. This is also my first dinosaur vector (I think) that does not use any warm colours such as red, orange and yellow (with the exception of the claws and teeth), and instead EXCLUSIVELY uses cool colours such as blue and grey, mostly to follow up on that one paleo meme where Nanotyrannus portrayed with blue coloration. I'm gonna say it: I love Nanotyrannus than Tyrannosaurus. Heck, now that it is valid again, it is literally my favourite tyrannosauroid and is even my second favourite dinosaur of all time. For some reason I just heavily prefer more gracile, smaller tyrannosauroids over the much larger and bulkier ones. This remodel is based off of N. lethaeus, since I am no longer as hesitant on its existence as I was before. HOWEVER, if Jane (the only specimen for N. lethaeus that we have as of typing this) becomes invalid, this remodel will be turned back into N. lancensis and will also get some slight changes, especially in terms of the skull shape. The colours and patterns were inspired by Dinosaur Revolution's T. rex as a nod to Nanotyrannus' resurrection as a genus; I wanted to have them represent a skeleton or ghost that had just been reborn and has risen from its grave. The call was made by combining the sounds of a loon and a hissing alligator together. The juvenile Tyrannosaurus is sort of speculative; we really don't have a lot of young Tyrannosaurus material now since most of it is now assigned to Nanotyrannus. Despite this, we still see other tyrannosaurids such as Tarbosaurus and Gorgosaurus start out as lanky, gracile animals that eventually transition into bulkier apex predators. Because of this, I based the juvenile Tyrannosaurus off of young Tarbosaurus specimens, as it is the closest relative to Tyrannosaurus, though the head itself its completely speculative. Speaking of which, the juvenile T. rex was originally going to appear in the thumbnail. However, I got lazy at the end and rushed it sadly.
