this is mainly for ScratcherDodo21 but this goes for all the members who made bird mutants. I've decided to reduced the number of birds in the desert to the Turkey Vultures, Ravens, Greater Roadrunners, sparrows, finches and Quail. These birds will diversify to fill niches left behind in the desert. which leads to my next point which is that for some reason we are trying way to hard to make it obvious on what animals they descended from take the Terror Starling, they look like a giant starling, they are nocturnal and a large avian predators, sounds fine until I realized that normal starlings look the way they are because of their niche Terror Starlings have a completely different niche there is no reason for them to look like a starling since large nocturnal predatory birds like owls aren't usually black. in short were holding ourselves back on creativity, the whole idea is that the animals have changed and no longer resemble their predecessors. By limiting our choices we can make the designs for these mutants weirder since they can evolve to fill the niches of the extinct animals. I've decided to do my own take on a Turkey vulture mutant (this isn't canon yet), I typically take inspiration from cryptids and for this one I took inspiration from the snallygaster, where the mutant has strange bristle formations on exposed skin also I wanted to make a rule where depending on the size of a animal affects how many descendants you can make, example turkey vultures can have like 3 descendants while sparrows can have 7 since their so small.
