The night had passed, and Dolphinspot and Coralspeck were officially warriors. Dolphinspot yawned and walked over to Coralspeck, who was also getting up. “I’m so happy we’re officially warriors!” Coralspeck said excitedly, and Dolphinspot eagerly nodded. “Really windy today.” Dolphinspot went on, watching the ocean as the waves built up to about two tail-lengths then crashed when they neared the shore. “Yeah, I’m guessing it’s gonna be just land patrols today.” The grey she-cat agreed, yawning. Just then, Sharkpool began calling patrols. “Clamlight, Honeynose, Stempelt, you all can go and patrol and mark the SunClan border. Coyotetail, Jellyfishfur, Emeraldglow, and Fishear, hunt in the forest…” Sharkpool went on, but never called Dolphinspot or Coralspeck. They looked at each other, then Dolphinspot walked up to him. “Why not us?” He said, then hoped he wasn’t being rude. Sharkpool looked at him. “You just pulled an all-nighter. Both of you can sleep now.” Dolphinspot looked back at Coralspeck happily, to see her already running for the warriors den. They quickly made new nests and snuggled into them, quickly falling asleep. Coralspeck blinked awake to the sound of cats exclaiming congratulations. She stepped out of the warriors den blearily, but got more active when she saw the sight in front of her. The morning patrol had just gotten back from fishing, and in the front, Whitevine was holding an entire tarpon in their jaws, with some help from Sandpelt and Shadespeck. Grasstail was in the back, with a couple blue chromis. Everyone was gathered around the patrol, chattering about the giant catch. “I guess the waves calmed down.” Dolphinspot murmured to Coralspeck. The patrol dropped it all onto the wet freshkill pile, then Whitevine told how they did it. “Well, I saw it, and I figured I might as well try and get it! Grasstail was off catching some smaller fish with Shadespeck, so I got Sandpelt to help me. She jumped on it to surprise it, then I started wrestling with the head. Shadespeck had wandered over and saw we needed help, and after a bit more fighting, we got it!” “Well, good job. This will feed us for a while.” Tidestar said, inspecting the giant fish. Quietshore bounded to the pile as most cats got a piece of the tarpon or grabbed a different prey and dispersed to various spots around the camp. Quietshore snatched a blue chromis and a sergeant major from the pile and after crying, “I call bringing food to the nursery!” Quietshore had seemed interested in Birch and Speckle since the day Birch appeared, and Birch loved playing with them. Coralspeck smiled as Quietshore brought the fish over to the two cats at the entrance of the den and started chatting with them. Coralspeck wasn’t very hungry, so she brought prey to the elders. “Thank you!” Triangletail said, as Circlepelt and Squareear talked behind him. Coralspeck nodded in reply, and walked to the beach to collect shells. ___________________________________________________ Augh sorry it’s been so long!
