▶ BIOLOGY: People from Sanctuary are genetically similar to humans (owing to hybridisation). They are, however, vastly physically superior to the average human, with a heart around 3 times larger, denser muscles and bones, and thicker skin. Their cells also regenerate faster, allowing for quicker healing. They tend towards lighter skin and hair due to reduced light levels. They do not experience male/female dimporphism, with most members of the species appearing conventionally masculine. They reproduce via one parent (the "leftparent") collecting the DNA of humanoids through direct physical contact. The child is not born, rather created out of excess biomass from the leftparent and surroundings. The new child appears to be 8 Alterra Standard years old. They absorb knowledge about basic skills from their many parents. ▶ COMMUNITY: Communities on Sanctuary tend to be small, with many occupying the area above a large cave containing a "Deep Market". Deep Markets are, as the name suggests, markets. The people have developed differently to humans, with animal husbandry being completely missed as hunting is plentiful. Advances in irrigation occurred in its place. The people are aware of concepts such as industrialisation, but refuse to use them as they are harmful to the natural world. People tend to live in decorated home caves, and dress in furs or simple cloth garments depending on the climate. They do not use money and instead barter for additional goods (they will ensure everyone has what they need before they even consider charging for items)
