Yup that's right I'm on Art Fight this year. First time, wish me luck! I'm on Team Mystery, but I'm perfectly chill with friendly fire. Since there's, like, actual serious coding in this project, here's some instructions: - Click on the lil icons to see character refs and some additional art. - To exit a character's ref & art, click on the cross in the top right. - To view the next artwork, click on the arrow in the bottom right. Uhh, about the character! 1) Fae - I) We know him, he's my sona (kinda) blah, guy on my profile picture. You all have already seen his ref you know what he looks like. - II) Yeah, I drew an edgy-ah profile pic for Art Fight. Cuz like, I wanted art of Fae wearing the Mystery mask. Then it kinda went and became edgy. He lowkey looks like he's gone crazy in that art. Maybe he is. 2) Inferno - I) I updated her ref for Art Fight, in order to show what she looks like in my current art style. I think I've improved a lot in the time I've been on Scratch, and I think this is proof of that. - II) Her old ref, post amputation. I drew that on Corel Painter. The art itself is actually on my old account, @VolcanicUnicorn. - III) Her first ref. Again, the art is on my old account, along with her bio. I created her for a roleplay, so all the roleplay info is there too lol. 3) Kane - I) This guy's been in the woodwork, although you have seen him in https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1298688739/. He's actually the protagonist of a webcomic I'm planning to make at some point. Basically, he's a B rank assassin, but in dungeon raids he tanks. That's kinda the whole point of the story lol. The armour you see him in in the ref is not the armour he's gonna start with in the story. It's more like a proof of concept. - II) I've actually changed Kane's design a bit since it's creation, so here I've created a board showing off what his old design looked like. There's his first concepts, his old ref, and some panels from the webcomic's first draft. Ofc, I edited out the text in the bubbles to avoid spoiling you guys. Why did I change his design? I wanted him to look less like Santtu. I get he probably didn't look that alike to Santtu, but like, avoiding same character syndrome here. I want my guys to be very distinct in terms of design. 4) Santtu - I) He was gonna be a background character, but see, something happened. I gave him a cool name. +aura. Then I drew him and he got even more aura. Then I went and did character development stuff because he had too much aura not to, and now he has EVEN MORE aura. Bro's just aura farming. Oh no, now he has so much aura, I'm gonna have to give him a role in the story!! And so, that's how he ended up my absolute favourite character in the story. The moral of all of this is don't name your background characters. Anyway, he's a C rank assassin who likes danmaku/bullet hell video games. - II) This is actually the first drawings I did of him. The headshot on the left is literally me just doing his first visual concept. Then I went and designed his outfit. Made it way too complicated - and trust me, that dragon skull was PAIN to draw - so had to simplify it later. Then I went and drew the fullbody on the right. I officially consider this his 'detailed ref'. - III) Yay aura farming. This is his icon on character hub. The way I imagine Santtu's fighting style is kinda based on Sakuya from Touhou (I'm a larper, I've never played Touhou lol. I only got into the fandom recently, mostly there for the music and the characters). So ofc I had to draw him with lots of knives. Chat, this kinda of stuff just lives rent free in my head with him, that's why he gets the author favourite privilege and not Kane, the actual freakin' protagonist. If you all wanna know how I did the coding, I used hitboxes, that's why there's a custom cursor. The actual card is a flat image, so I had to create clickable areas via hitboxes. But sprites on 100% ghost aren't clickable, so I had to create a custom cursor, and make it so that when the mouse is clicking and the cursor is touching the hitbox, it essentially acts as a click. Why is the cursor a crosshair? 'Cause you're picking your targets and I'm picking mine :3 See you on the battlefield chat! My username on art fight is the same as on here. Wishing everyone on Art Fight the best of luck :D
