Two tales of one California company. We follow up with the current Streamline Pictures. Name History: Lyrick Studios West (1995-2001) Streamline Pictures (first era; 2001-2004) Streamline Pictures-EM.TV (2004-2008) Streamline Pictures (second era; 2008-present) Short History: Lyrick Studios would establish a second production studio in Burbank, California in 1995. The newly formed studio, Lyrick Studios West, served as a companion studio to Lyrick's main production studio in Irving, Texas. In addition to providing assistance to its parent studio, Lyrick Studios West also produces its own films and shows. Its logos around this time were only seen on TV shows, as films and home video releases of its work used the regular Lyrick Studios logos at the time. Richard Leach, Lyrick's longtime CEO would step down from the company in 2001, selling it to German media company E.M. TV and Merchandising. Following E.M. TV's acquisition, Lyrick Studios West became an independent-operated company, still under Lyrick Studios. Around the same time, it changed its name to Streamline Pictures, the name of Lyrick's former mature-oriented home video label. Its logo began appearing on films and home video releases. In 2004, the studio was renamed to Streamline Pictures-E.M. TV, making it fit in line with E.M. TV's other production subsidiaries. By 2005, Streamline shifted to producing more mature projects (mainly those in the horror and sci-fi genres), in contrast to its parent owner, Lyrick Studios, which continued to focus on family-friendly and or lighthearted projects. EM.TV would declare bankruptcy in 2008, selling Lyrick Studios to a consortium led by its head of development Sheryl Leach, American investment firm Bain Capital and former US Secretary of State George W. Bush. Streamline Pictures-EM.TV would drop the EM.TV suffix was dropped following the sale. Streamline would shift back into a Californian counterpart to Lyrick in 2014, in order to compete with former sister company, The Jim Henson Company. The company's mascot since 2014 is Detective Cat. Detective Cat is the main character of the series of the same name. The series was produced as part of Streamline's push to produce more family-friendly projects.
