Chapter Thirteen: Truth and Hurt LINK'S POV: My mind raced with outcomes, they could both live!...Right? My phone rang, breaking me out of my thoughts. It was work. "ʏ-ʏᴇs?" I asked, trying not to sound like I was breaking apart on the inside. "ᴡᴇ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ɪɴғᴏʀᴍᴀᴛɪᴏɴ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴀsᴇ. ʏᴏᴜ ɴᴇᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ɪɴ," chief's voice rang. "ʏ-ʏᴇᴀʜ, ɪ ᴄᴀɴ ᴄᴏᴍᴇ ɪɴᴛᴏ ᴡᴏʀᴋ. ɪ'ʟʟ ʙᴇ ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ɪɴ ᴛʜɪʀᴛʏ ᴍɪɴᴜᴛᴇs," I replied, hoping it would keep my thoughts away from the possibility of Zelda or Aryll dying today. I told Mom and she said she'd keep me updated. I got to my car and tried to stop myself from crying. When I arrived, the chief was waiting at the door. I wiped tears and walked up to him. "Glad to see you're here! I found something when we went to check out a location that Ganon recently visited. A picture," he whispered, as we walked inside. He handed me the picture and I saw my Father and Ganon underneath read; ʏᴏᴜ ᴅɪᴇᴅ ʙᴇғᴏʀᴇ ɢɪᴠɪɴɢ ɪᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴍᴇ...ʏᴏᴜ'ʟʟ ᴘᴀʏ!! I felt confused, my Father in an agreement with Ganondorf, someone nearly twenty years younger then him?! "W-what does it mean?!" I asked, shocked and confused. "Your Father owns a lot of money to Ganon or at least his Father, who we think is in the picture with your Father. Now he wants the money and maybe revenge," chief replied, sighing hard. Anger and confusion struck me. Why would my Father need money from Ganon's family? Is that's why he went for Aryll? To try to get Mom or even me to confess something? I grabbed the photo and asked, "Do we know where Ganon is?" Chief nodded, then stepped back. "H-he's on his way to the hospital." he yelled racing out the door. I followed getting in my car and flipping on the siren. "Please! Oh Hylia please let them be okay!" I cried, racing down the street towards the hospital. ZELDA'S POV: I had him at gun point, but could barely keep my focus. "L-let her go Ganon!" I tried to yell. I stumbled and shook my head to stay focused. Ganon laughed and tightened his grip on Link's mother. "W-what do you want with me?!" Link's Mother yelled as doctors talked to the police. "Your husband was in deep trouble with my Father! I need that money and he told you where it is, so tell me where it is and I'll let you go free! Tell me!" Ganon yelled, making my ears ring like thunder. I stumbled as my vision blurred. "W-what?! I don't know where the money is! Please just leave us alone! We can peacefully get through this! If we just talk this out!" Link's Mom replied. "W-what?! Lair!! Tell me or she dies!" he yelled, pointing the gun at sleeping Aryll. "D-don't! Ganon, this will only get you in deeper trouble!" I yelled with my last bit of strength. Ganon laughed and said, "What are you going to do?! You're barely alive! One shot to the leg and your done for! No matter who I shoot Link will care and he'll have to tell me!!" My legs locked and I collapsed. Crap! A shot went off and I saw Ganon stumble and Link's Mom rushed over to Aryll and I. "If you hurt them! This will be your end!" Link's voice screamed in my head as my mind faded into darkness. LINK'S POV: Chief arrested Ganon and I saw Aryll asleep, alive beside my Mom, scared but okay. I then saw Zelda on the ground looking pale. "Z!" I screamed, rushing to her side. I checked her pulse, it was gone. "No...NO!!!" I screamed, tears falling from my eyes. I began doing chest compressions, mouth to mouth, trying to bring her back. Doctors took over and I put my head in my hands. "H-how's Aryll, will she be okay?" I asked, sniffling. "She'll be okay, I'm surprised Zelda hung on for that long, she was on the brink of death the doctors where trying to help her have a peaceful ending. Then she woke up, barely alive when Ganon broke in. She protected us until the very end. I'm sorry Link. I clenched my fist. "I'll end him. He's hurt too may people I love. I don't care how long it takes, I'll find that money," I whispered, anger rising.
