My Entry for Guiding Light from @Trunkadoodlez 's very fun DTA! I may or may not do an entry for another character. It all depends on how much I feel like drawing over the next month lol. I did the traditional design for the cover, but put my own spin on things for the fancier drawing. Their tights are meant to be ripped from their clawed feet and arm if that didn't convey. I also wanted to make the clothing a lighter gray color so that the taloned hand could show up more, but Krita is a pain in the butt to change the color of anything with, so it's staying that way. This is Guiding Light (and yes that is their name now), and the backstory I came up with for them is that they're like Charon and the River Styx, guiding souls to the afterlife whether that's the underworld or heaven. They have some dragon-like elements to be a little intimidating, but they're honestly just the middle man. They don't have very much to do with the guardians of the afterlifes, but the dead are still very much afraid of this almost demonic-looking guide being the first person they interact with. The storyline I quickly came up with would be Guiding Light guiding people out of their last dreams (or nightmares) to wherever they end up. Death in this universe ends with your life flashing before your eyes, but it also distorts based on the own person's struggles and perception of their life, which is the dreams/nightmares. This shows the person almost why they're going to heaven or the underworld. The story would follow Guiding Light with probably three humans that have died, one to heaven, one to the underworld, and then one that is so balanced in the middle that they have to talk to their superiors about it. This leads to the guardians not caring, and leaving it up to Guiding Light to decide, and they realize humans aren't exactly as black and white as the automatic system in place leads them to believe. Just a quick concept for their story. Character Statistics: Name: Guiding Light Pronouns: They/Them Age: 232. They were created into existence by the guardians after the human population boomed in the late 1700s and the guardians couldn't keep up with handling every death themselves. Height & Weight: Don't really apply since they aren't exactly corporeal. Abilities: Multiplying and retaining all the memories to do their job as well as traveling into human's dying dreams. Can travel to both heaven and the underworld without problem. Likes: Their job, comforting people in their last moments, keeping up with the times to some extent. Dislikes: The guardians, traumatic pasts, and leaving their post.
