I had been about 2 years or a bit less since I lost my 899 day streak due to a phantom streak freeze, I contacted Duolingo and customer services with my mum but nothing came. I was angry and disappointed and decided to quit Duolingo and leave all of the passive aggressiveness and emotional manipulation of the duo owl behind. I deleted the widget and blocked out anything to do with it. Today I woke up with a 0 day streak like always. Ate breakfast, got some things done. Then I saw it. The Spanish or vanish ‘bring my parents back’ christmas song. For old times sake I decided to look at their yt page and direct my anger and disappointment to duo owl. Pinned on their page was the words: get your streak back. All I had to do was do 3 lessons in a row before the 1st of July. Of course I hadn’t the strength to delegate the app after I lost my streak so after sitting there for years, just taking up space, I finally opened it and completed my first lesson in ages. Then I did three, and sure enough, my streak was revived!
