Considering how destructive the Blerper Civil War was, reconstruction has been slow but steady. Much of the heavily affected regions, such as Kap-Aarschen and Drefenburg, are still mostly smoldering ruins. However, less affected cities like Blonckstein and Nourdeburg have seen great leaps in rebuilding themselves, using the opportunity of a bunch of free space to modernize themselves. Blonckstein, using much of the space cleared up by demolition of unstable buildings, has announced a brand new overground metro system, due to have its first line fairly soon. Nourdeburg has seen a suspiciously large amount of parks open where apartment blocks once stood. The economy has, for the most part, recovered without a hitch. Ports and industry were high priority in the rebuilding chain, allowing trade and goods to start flowing into the country again. The country has heavily invested into offshore oil rigs to supplement much of its losses in the energy and chemical businesses. While this has sparked environmental backlash, the government has promised eco-friendly policies eventually to offset this. Now, on a completely unrelated note: where are all of the Blerper Civil War's important figures now? General Ketz, despite signing the treaty, was immediately kicked out of the Blerper Defense Forces and expelled from Blerpusdorf. Although he's admittedly annoyed by this betrayal, he sees no point in dragging on the whole ordeal, with his goals accomplished (get rid of the old government) anyways. House Ministers Pliek and Hasse have resettled in Blerpusdorf, but both have permanently resigned from politics. House Minister Fachber has returned to continue heading his banking company Fachber & Friends, although he too has withdrawn from politics. Mayor Petel has ascended from the mayor of Kap-Aarschen to a Representative for the western region of Feschtland. He's still a fairly important player in Blerper politics. His health is declining though, which most attribute to the constant sieging of his last post in the Civil War. President van Dak is still doing his job, even though he never really WANTED to be President of Blerpusdorf. Which wasn't even a position in Blerpusdorf when he was elected Mayor of Cubertshaven, but that's besides the point. Many believe him to be doing a pretty great job with reconstruction though, so he probably won't be leaving office for a while.
