hi! it's cactus, back with another problem. as of now, i have three theriotypes (i think), being eastern coyote, barn owl, and whooping crane. recently, i was biking on a pump track thing that was a bit muddy. i splashed mud onto myself and my first reaction was to hiss. (i did, since i was unprepared for that, and it sounded pretty realistic.) i've always had fun doing domestic cat vocals, and have considered and denied having a cat theriotype. i'm reconsidering that, and my brain was like "you may have been wrong before, you're probably wrong again," and now i'm questioning all my theriotypes. below are experiences i've had with each of my theriotypes, but i'd love if people went in, read it, and told me their thoughts. eastern coyote: when i first learned of therianthropy, my first thought was "coyote". i do believe this was a "chosen theriotype" (which isn't real) at first, but it soon developed into something i'm sure of. for years, whenever i behaved in a semi-canine way, these icy blue eyes pop into my head. they are coyote eye shaped, and icy blue is a potential eye color for coyotes, though rare. i also have ear phantom shifts that feel extremely canine, and i'm at home in woodlands. i am not a wolf therian, since wolves prefer packs and coyotes typically stick to one other coyote or alone. barn owl: i'm a night owl. i'm gonna go ahead and say that. on a deeper note, i've always felt something with owls, and it was always this desire to be exactly like they were. and when i imagined myself as an owl? always a barn owl. i've had wing shifts that when i visualize, look like barn owl wings, and i enjoy perching and curling up like an owl would. whooping crane: this is a more recent theriotype. i was looking at pictures of birds, and saw a whooping crane. it took the breath away from me, and i was just like "that's me inside". i often walk like a whooping crane when relaxed or observant, one careful step in front of the other. they also just seem part of me now. cat. . .? so, as i'm looking deeper into a potential cat theriotype, i'm looking into what feels most like me, if i were to imagine myself as a cat. (specific breeds) 1. i think i'd be quiet, only hissing when annoyed, not very many meows or purrs. 2. i wouldn't be a house cat, but a feral domesticated cat breed, able to sustain myself. 3. i think i'd have shorter, sleek fur, though i'm not sure the color. 4. whenever i see a cat toy, my urge is to chase/pounce on it, so i think i'd be playful. 5. i do prefer solitude, so perhaps an independent breed? if you have any ideas/comments/questions/whatever, let me know!! love and sparkles, -cactusshade
