If you don't understand why I'm doing this, I've given a detailed description below about my church, how it's different, and what we believe. If you have any extra questions, by all means comment (respectfully). In my church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (also known as the Mormons), we believe that God is the literal father of our spirits, and that He has a literal body of flesh and bones, and that we are created in his image. We believe that He is a separate being from His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. We believe that the Bible is the word of God as far as translated correctly, but we also believe that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is an account of people who left Jerusalem about 600 years before Christ who came to live in the Americas, and the book is a very important part of our church. We believe in modern revelation and a living prophet. We believe that prophet provides revelation for our entire church, but we believe that you can pray to Heavenly Father to receive revelation that applies specifically to you. We believe in literal baptism by immersion for the remission of sins, and that doing so is the only way we can return to our Father in Heaven. We believe though that children that die before the age of 8 are innocent, and should not be baptized until 8. Those who die afterward without baptism can be have the living act in place of them to take part in the ordinance. We believe that Jesus Christ not only died on the cross, but we believe that in the garden of Gethsemane He suffered for the sins of the world. He felt every sin, trial and pain of all those who have lived and all those who will ever live on this Earth. Because of this sacrifice, he acts as a mediator who satisfies justice desired by God and mercy desired by us. He died on the cross, and was resurrected. Because of this sacrifice, we will all one day be resurrected, and our bodies and minds will be restored. Those who have disabilities of the body or mind will be returned to their rightful state. We believe this is the main reason for God sending his son to earth. Our church does not believe in displaying the cross as it is a reminder of Christ's death, and we want to remember that Christ lives. Finally our church believes that through baptism, repentance, and ordinances in our sacred temple buildings, we can live together with our families after we die, and we can someday become like God. Mormons are Christians, we do not practice polygamy, and in short, we aren't that different from the rest of you. Sure, we don't drink coffee or alcohol, and we may have different beliefs from you, but we still do a lot of things other Christians do. We still go to church every Sunday, we pray, we read scriptures, and we believe in doing good to fellow children of God. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
