wipppp *some design stuff in comments btw :3 Ok so these creatures are born as any living creature, the parents don't take any part in their ability to shapeshift. Their ability is purely based on like the way they think? you cant really teach it although its happened once or twice, only with the most experienced shifters teaching others tho. Plus some people js dont have the right mind and cant possibly be taught lol. the ability is a bit uncontrollable sometimes, and even the most masterful masters might get out of control if they can't handle their emotions. they aren't immortal but they live slightly longer than whatever the typical lifespan of their species is. ex, the shapeshifter is a cat. its lifespan is added by 100 years. a human only gets 20-30. Animals typically get more extra time. Plants and inanimite objects may not shapeshift, but a living creature may shapeshift into a object in some ways. a shapeshifter can talk to other shapeshifters no matter language barriers. this includes human x animal this doesnt make a shapeshifter fox able to talk to humans, just humans who are shapeshifters. a non shifter can't be taught to speak shapeshifter either. to be a shapeshifter one must have like.... a unique way of loving things? like they love things differently than most people, and their brains think sorta differently. to normal people it mmmight be seen as "weird" but some act completely "normal" and just think a little differently. ill elaborate later their living situations vary, some live in groups w other shifters, some w regular animals/humans, and some just live alone or w their families. their only predators are shifters who decide they wanna be evil *these ones are usually older or has something bad happen to them, in a few cases they'll take in younger ones and inforce their beliefs tho.* And scientists. These are humans, who want to study shifters. They keep them in cages and tag them, and have been knows to actually test medications and drugs and products on them. its rare that shifters get caught, though. very few escape, but not many end up there, anyways. theyre usually peaceful creatures, common personality traits can be like shyness and anxities, depression, etc, but theyre usually very gentle, and often come out of their shell a lot as they grow. this isn't always the case. they can't always shift into just anything, mostly things they really admire or love. or just find interesting. Appearance and limits- They all have their own "sparkle" Only other shapeshifters can see this sparkle. its faint, too. its typically pretty small but whatever. it can be anything, like purple cats, or just a regular sparkle, or maybe green hearts, etc when they reach their toddler stage they akready developed the power and can use it, although its super uncontrollable. their first few times usually go horrifyingly wrong and leave 'scars'. for example, my oc shifted into a bird one time, but it flew away and she got confused and sad. it distorted her memory of the bird and made her shifting gltich a little. she now permantly has teeensy bird wings on her head. youd usually have three. They arent very noticable, and are always visible, even when you shift. With enough practice, you can have two 'main forms' my oc was born as a person, but found great interest in deer. now even when not shfiting, she can be either deer or human. she can talk to non-shifting deer now, too. their pupils are usually wierdly shaped. stars, crosses, hearts, sparkles, anything not too detailed. you can't fully shift into an inanimate object. a select few mmmaybe can but idk. like if its a guitar maybe you have pegs up ur arm that tune your voice or smth, idk be creative w each shift. w living things you can fully shift but it takes practice and at first you might only get the tail, ears, patterns, etc. you can also half-shift where you're in between two main forms. *like for my oc, her half-form is a human w antlers, a tail, and deer spots. and ears.* mmmm im lazy so the end for now
