TW: Pet death These guys were my guinea pigs Blackberry and Caramel <3 We had to put them down yesterday, and it was really hard for me. Originally they were my brother's, he got them in May of 2021 after his hamster died, so it was very sudden. Summer of last year I felt like he was kind of getting tired of taking care of them. He wasn't neglecting them, but I felt like he could be doing more, yknow? So I stepped in and offered he give them to me, and he did. I've always loved animals too, so I was like, oml I get to take these little guys outside all the time now yeyyy They're so cute TwT I think they lived to about 6 years, cause we adopted them together when they were tiny, so not too bad at all. Anyways, Caramel had a missing top tooth, and something wrong with his other due to the irresponsibility of my brother and his friend. Mistakes happen, I get it, but when it comes to small animals, do /not/ stand up while holding them, unless you understand very well how to handle them. They bite, they wiggle, so if you drop them, they better only be an inch or two away from the ground. That wasn't the case here. i'm very very upset about it. But it's not like it was the reason we put them down, Caramel also had something going on internally, we couldn't figure it out, and he was in a lot of pain, so we put them down together so Blackberry wouldn't become depressed. I think it was for the best, anyways, but the house won't be the same without them.. It's especially tough cause I anticipated it. With my rats, one got put down while I was at school, I wasn't expecting it, and the other one died of old age. But for this, I understood that these guys wouldn't be alive the next day, and that just tore me apart They were a blessing though, I'll really miss them </3 I liked taking .5 photos of them lol, its too cute Yknow im just trying to distract myself, cause it does feel unreal to me. I haven't had to deal with death in five years, in any manner, so I'm really not sure what to do.. By the way, for those upset that we did put Blackberry down as well even though his health was alright, we did try to find him another home. There's so many guinea pigs out for adoption right now though, no one would take him in, not even people we knew and asked personally, so it was our last resort. He's better with his buddy <3
these photos are from the past year Thank you for your kind words <33 I'll admit, its really hard, especially since I'm the only one in my family grieving, but they're in a better place now <3
