*This happened while I’m in Japan So one day we were getting on a train from Sapporo (or Otaru, I Can’t remember which) to Noboribetsu — or at least that was the plan, but you know how things don’t always go to plan. Anyway, we were at the train station and bought our train tickets, and the SECOND we got our tickets, an announcement came over the loudspeaker saying that the train that we had JUST bought tickets for was cancelled because it… crashed into a bear while heading to the station! So then we had to use a bunch of Japanese that we didn’t even know to get our money back and find train tickets for a new train. That went pretty smoothly except it took 50 minutes. We got on the next crowded train and thought everything was going to go smoothly for the rest of the day, but when we arrived at our seventh-floor hotel room we were in for another surprise; when we were going to bed, an EARTHQUAKE hit! The whole building swayed for about a minute and then stopped almost completely, but it was still an earthquake.
