Delilah-anne Elora - D11 - - - Delilah-anne Delilah Lilah Annie So many names for her, and even more that she could add Delilah-anne Elora had never liked being anything but who she was what she knew to be. quiet and reserved always respectful, yet clever and intelligent. maybe all the books she read helped her slightly in that way. but even she knew that the only way to survive was to put on a show that’s what they wanted, wasn’t it? for her to flash her teeth in a grin, wink, and wave a paw. annie had to survive this, even if she had no one to go home to. so she looked down to her outfit, a light green cape hidden by the most beautiful arrangement of flowers annie had ever seen, also strewn with wheat and fruit. if it wasn’t for the grim circumstances, delilah might’ve felt beautiful. she was ushered onto the train, alongside the other tributes, occasionally smiling politely at those that she had and hadn’t met. she found her spot, arranging her ‘costume’ so it wasn’t stuck under her paws. annie almost lost her footing as the train lurched to a start, yelping softly. soon, they had arrived to the part she was dreading but she knew what she had to do. the fawn colored cat had a mask, she could put it on for only a minute after all, astrid had said that she needed to get to know cats, why not now? delilah-anne put on a beaming smile, waving a paw out to the crowd, blowing kisses and winking, just as she knew she would do. she then grabbed a piece of fruit, an apple, off of her costume, one that she knew was real, and tossed it, through the gap of the window, to a small child that had outstretched hands, eyes shining. they reminded her of her sister. annie took another fruit, making sure to toss it gently, even if she really wanted to throw them as hard as she could, and then another, tossing them to the crowds. when she ran out, she started grabbing flowers from her costume, throwing them out bunches at a time, still trying to hold a wobbly grin. by the end, she has almost no flowers, no plants of any kind on her costume, all given away to the capitol citizens. /whatever is needed/ she thought, waving to the last of cats outside the train. the words her mother whispered on her deathbed pounded in delilah’s mind. /brave the current, my sunshine don’t let them drag. you. under./
