dew's gleam was found dead on the edge of shadowclan territory, as if he was about to cross. they appeared to have been mauled by something, though no one knew what. he died from his injuries. he was found by his kits, holding what appeared to be gifts. a feather and a small pearl. --- ㅤhe knew what he had to do. he knew he had to go to shadowclan, he knew they had to go to his kits. he just hoped he could see them. oh, their kits, the same ones he'd abandoned so many moons ago. ㅤdew's gleam had been young, and so foolish. he hadn't dared to return since. shame had kept them away. shame and guilt. however, now, something drove him towards the border, to the camp he knew was nestled inside the territory. he knew where it was, vaguely, and he wanted to see them. ㅤtheir paws settled into a familiar pace, pounding a rhythm on the ground. he didn't walk, he ran. something was drawing him back, back to the clan he no longer belonged in. ㅤthe flora surrounding him changed. the trees thickened. the sun began to set. yet still he kept going. ㅤthey paused at a river, chest heaving, dipping a gentle paw in. what was he gonna say? what was he even supposed to say? he didn't know. he supposed it would come to him once he was there, face to face with them. ㅤminutes later, they knew they had come to the shadowclan border. it was just a few lengths away from him, calling him back, calling him back to where he'd belonged. calling him home. ㅤthis was where he was attacked. he didn't know what hit him, he couldn't have possibly known. he'd been too distracted. he simply knew the pain, the way he tried to fight back against whatever it was, but it was too late. ㅤcrimson. dewkit. dewpaw. dewoath. all the names he'd borne. all the names he'd forsaken, all for this cursed name. dew's gleam. the most meaningless, stupid one yet, one he'd taken to forget. ㅤno, he wasn't dew's gleam. he was dewoath. ㅤoath, for the oaths he'd made. for the oaths he'd made and never kept. ㅤdewoath could feel the presence of starry cats around him, brushing past his fur and whispering in their ears. /starclan,/ they realized, relief flooding their chest. ㅤhe felt himself rise, the pain gone. and there, was beesonnet, his mother. waiting for him. everyone he'd ever loved, the few cats they'd deemed deserving of it, were waiting there. friends he'd had but seemed to have forgotten. cats they'd barely known. ㅤthey let out a sigh, leaving behind the living world. he never made it to his kits, yet he knew he had forever now. he would wait, and wait, until finally he'd see them again. ㅤdew would apologize, then, explain everything. but for now, and forever, he knew his story was over, and he knew what the name of the protagonist was. ㅤdewoath.
dewoath has passed at 80 moons. i won him from @froggola's litter on 11.09.24. thank you so much for entrusting dew to me. ㅤhe's had a long life. i remember when i first saw them. i fell in love with the design and immediately had to apply. i won, and that's how dew's story started. ㅤthey were brought to shadowclan, given the name dewkit, and raised there. they were awarded the name dewoath. beesonnet passed. dewoath had kits. devasted after his mother's death, he ran from shadowclan, and, perhaps thoughtlessly, joined the angel's choir. they didn't belong there. he took the name dew's gleam, and although it didn't fit, he was glad to have a new one. ㅤhis death happens as he tries to finally return to shadowclan. he decides he wants himself to be dewoath again. -- ㅤi'm ashamed to admit it, but i lost interest in dew. he simply was not as fun to roleplay as i'd have hoped, and then when i took a break from scratch they just aged and aged. i also won conquête, a loner kit, so i knew dew had to go. ㅤi'm sorry he had to go, and i'm sorry to all the cats he had a relationship with that i just didn't rp enough. like his kits. ㅤi do think i wrapped his story up in a decent way, although maybe some might see him not getting to say anything to his kits as an unsatisfying ending. i, however, am satisfied with this outcome. ㅤgoodbye my dear dewoath.
