With Kefeon now officially seperated from Terra and the war over, we see the need to expand and modernise our woefully inadequate fleets. The main ship in our fleet is the Apotheosis class, a mighty fine class of cruiser that has served our navy for decades, and therein lies the problem. The Apotheosis class heavy cruiser is really old. They have been in service since the second(?) galactic war and are armed entirely with outdated railguns. Many cruisers have failing parts and the class is, in general, unfit for service. The order was sent out for almost every Apotheosis-class heavy cruiser to be scrapped. Several were saved and turned into museum ships or remained at the border defences until the replacement class could arrive. The Apotheosis class would be replaced by the Quintessence class. The Quintessence class was heavily based on the Apotheosis (being a direct descendant of the design) but featured a superior armour and armament. The Quintessence remains primarily armed with railguns, featuring 20 medium railguns across its surface alongside 16 light railguns and the central cannon, updated and improved from the pre-war days using knowledge from the Terra-Kefeon war. It also features the laser technology pioneered by the Broadsword program in a total of 10 phased arrays across the ship. The Quintessence can carry up to two squadrons of fighters or bombers within it's armoured internal hangar without using much space as we use drone fighters. However, these fighter bays will be primarily unoccupied until the new fighter models enter production.
