The GE C40-8W, sometimes referred to as "Dash 8-40CW", "D8-40CW" or "8-40CW", is a 4,000 horsepower (2,980 kW) bi-mode locomotive that was built by GE Transportation Systems between 1989 and 1993. The Dash 8 was designed to succeed the Dash 7 series.
