we are online. this is not the real world. and so thus here is a project for safety awareness online. 1. do not share off-site links any links to platforms where you can chat with others are automatically dangerous as they are usually unmoderated or poorly moderated and have private spaces whereas scratch is all public 2. scratch is not safe although it may seem safe here, and it is safer than other places, it is not. this is a website directed towards children with the option to talk freely. 3. spot the signs be wary of people who constantly want you to talk about sensitive subjects, share personal information, lure you into closed off spaces, and pretend to be a close friend. 4. friends it's okay to have online friends, but remember that they are never your friend. you do not know them irl. they are strictly online. always remember that. 5. if in danger close off any comments, projects, dms, etc. that may contain information, delete or edit away private information. cut contact from the one who seeks to do you harm. talk to a trusted adult or step away from the online world. 6. off-site links do not click on off site links. do not go off site. as stated 1 it is not safe. 7. boundaries boundaries are a safety net on the internet, and should be used and respected. if you feel uncomfortable, speak up, do not stay silent, let people know that you do not like what is being said. if you are a young child, or of any age, and someone is making you uncomfortable. speak. i cannot stress this enough. speak to a friend, an adult, anyone. speak to multiple people as well.
