This follows the final moments of the Sin of Greed, known as Galexos, possessing the vessel "Lord Avaron". This details the revolution that led to his untimely, and excruciating demise, due to his encounter with THE MAGE. This is exactly how Galexos ended up in the green vial.

His soul is connected to his wealth, as well as his body, so when that wealth starts to fade i.e. things are stolen from him, his kingdom is destroyed, he is destroyed alongside it, causing him to melt.
