At exactly 2:15 PM NDT (EDT), construction has finished on the uranium enrichment facility. It is now beginning functionality and producing enriched uranium. As per trade deal, Novaskovia receives 10% of the enriched uranium produced. HOW URANIUM IS ENRICHED: Raw uranium ore is fed into a mill, where it is then crushed and mixed with chemicals to separate the uranium from the surrounding rock, producing uranium dioxide concentrate. After drying, it becomes a powder known as yellowcake. This yellowcake is then converted into uranium hexafluoride gas and transferred into a series of cylindrical centrifuges. Lighter U235 is collected near the center and gets sent to the next cylinder. Depleted gases get sent back the previous cylinder. This cycle repeats until the desired enrichment is met (in the case of energy, 5%. In the case of weapons, 25%). Finally, the enriched uranium hexafluoride gas is chemically processed into uranium dioxide powder and compressed into fuel pellets.
