The AAI A-8 Troparion first flew in 1934, while AAI was financially struggling and barely able to keep the lights on. It was intended to be a twin-engine airliner. But, due to its range and simplicity, it got a lot of buyers, making the company financially stable once more. It was then used by the Aquillian military in all three services (Air Force, Army, and Navy) in vast numbers. In the end, production ended in 1964, with 65,323 built, making it the most-produced aircraft ever. The aircraft remains in use.
