❥ Update 004. Stargazing with Lily - The sky was already turning deep velvet blue when I walked out to the pasture. Lily stood near the fence, her mane catching the last hints of sunset like strands of gold woven into her mane. She lifted her head when she saw me, ears flicking. I walked toward her, and she met me halfway, nickering quietly. I climbed onto her lead back and we rode together toward the paddock behind the barn, my personal favorite place to watch the stars. Lily listened to my commands without the saddle, and I was honestly really surprised. She glanced at me once or twice, as if making sure I was alright on her back. When we reached the paddock, I let her graze for a moment while I layed on her back. The sky was fully dark now, sprinkled with stars that looked like tiny fireflies. Lily lifted her head, her ears going forward as she looked up too. We stayed there for a long time. I talked to her quietly, and petted her lightly. She flicked her ears toward my voice, and settled a little. I felt safe, and I hoped she did too. I hugged her neck gently, my arms wrapping around her soft, silky mane. I led her into her stall, dismounted her, and she turned around to face me. I stroked her nose and whispered goodnight.
