Hauntedhollow laid on the floor, panting. Part of their mind screamed for them to get up, to get help, to seek a medicine cat to tend their wounds. BUt they were tired, bleeding, and just couldn't find the strength to move around. Even if they had been in a better situation physically, it was still too shocked by the entire sequence of events that had just transpired. They had wanted a peaceful, friendly visit to the moonpool, and Starclan had decided to take that away, and send a wolf to them instead. They supposed they couldn't complain. They had asked for an answer to their question, and it got one. It couldn't have asked for a clearer response. It was just not the answer they wanted. No. No no no no no It had to be a mistake, right? Starclan would never abandon a cat like them Starclan would never abandon a cat who followed the warrior code Starclan would never Never But yet, the answer was laid out in front of them. They laughed A weak, cold laugh So this was how things were, huh? It looked up at the stars, now fading in the setting of the moon and the wait for the coming dawn. But this time, it did not look up at the stars with wonder, hope, trust, or admiration. It did not look up at the stars with pleading eyes. As the world seemed to fade around them, they just asked themselves one question. Why?
