Born in one of them, Douglas, an odd colored little buckling was plenty fit to become a meal for a human. He was always weird. He was small and runtish as well. Some humans who talked around his pen always said words like “abandoned” and other things he never understood. One day the other little goats were let out into the pasture where a big box was. Douglas didn’t want to go into a box with the annoying little bucklings and doelings. So he bolted for a fence, which was of course electric, but he managed to squeeze through a gap with minor shocks. The farm workers tried catching Douglas- he kind of stood out running through the nearby forest. Douglas survived because he was lucky enough to find a shepherd on the other side of a country-like road and a huge forest. The humans who had chased him finally gave up, thinking he would die, but Douglas was taken in to the flock.
