Chapter two of my little story. If you like it please let me know. Warnings - none As the game resumed after halftime I sat with my friends and we cheered and talked and pushed each other energetically. I looked at the kid from Jakefield and he looked terrified and confused, which made me laugh, then he would look at me confused, which would make me laugh more. The kid, who looked about the same age as me, had very dark blonde, neatly combed hair in a side part. He had blue eyes and rosy cheeks. He wore tan slacks and a baby blue button up shirt. I smiled as Jayden and I pushed him back and fourth as we chanted for the Minks. We already knew we were gonna win, but it was still fun to cheer. After a while I asked the kid in between me and Jayden his name. “Oh, uh, my name is Jack.” He said after I asked the question again. “Well, nice to meet you Jack, I’m Madison” I said extending my hand for a shake and he accepted it. His whole body shook as I shook his hand and he looked at me with surprised eyes as he cradled his hand. I laughed a bit, then said “these are my friends Jayden, Garfield, or Gar as he prefers, and Mia.” I said pointing to my friend with the greasy brown hair then to the boy on his other side, then the dark haired girl beside me. They all extended their hands and Jack closed his eyes as he shook them all, and they laughed because no one shook hands as aggressively as I did. After sighing and laying his hand down he went quiet again. As the Jays called a timeout I got stood up and stretched as I asked “I’m gonna go walk, wanna come with me Jaybird?” Jack looked up from picking at his sleeves and he pointed to himself as if to ask “Me?” And I laughed at him and nodded. He looked at the field for a moment then stood up. “Alright!” I said as I pulled him into a headlock, then I asked quickly “Anyone else coming?” Jack struggled a bit in my headlock, but not much and I eventually let go as I turned to walk down the bleachers. I decided I had tormented Jack enough for now, so I didn’t challenge him to a race down the bleachers. As we walked past the other boys I fell in front of I heard someone whisper “What are you doing?!” in not so much of a whisper. “Guys it’s fine. They aren’t as bad as people say, just a bit energetic.” I turned around a waited a moment as the boys looked at me, surprised by my sudden spin. “Yeah guys, we’re fine.” I say as I took a step towards the boys and leaned towards them, my face close to the boy sitting near the steps. He scooted back a bit, and I laughed. These kids were very awkward. “Come on Jack.” I say as I laugh a bit more then continue my walk down the bleachers. Jack followed me, and when we reached the bottom I stretched my legs a bit then looked over to the concessions stand. “Want some food?” I ask him. He shrugged and I smiled. These kids are something else. “Well, I’m getting food, and offering to pay for you if you want some, so it’s yes or no.” I said and he eventually nodded. I smiled and walked to the concession stand, the girl working it shrinking back a bit as she saw me. I laughed under my breath and asked for some nachos and a Gatorade, then turned to Jack. He looked at the girl and asked if he could get a bag of chips. “Oh come on, get something that actually will fill you up.” I said. Eventually he nodded and asked for a pickle and a sprite. I smiled, a bit more satisfied, and handed the girl the money, her hand shaking a bit. “Would you like your change?” She asked in a nervous voice. I smiled a bit and nodded, then when she handed me the change I placed the spare $3.49 into the basically empty tip jar, and it landed beside a few quarters and a button. She smiled at this and looked at me. “Thank you.” She said, her voice not nearly as nervous anymore. She handed over the food and drinks, her hands steady, and I smiled. “No problem.” I said as I waved to the girl and started to walk back to the bleachers, Jack following. “Wanna go sit with your friends now?” I asked, before I started up the bleachers. He thought for a moment, then said “Yeah, but you’re welcome to join me.” He said and I smiled. “Thanks, Jaybird!” I said and I followed him to his spot and he gestured for his friends to scoot a bit so I could join them. His friends looked at him as if he had gone insane, and I couldn’t help but laugh a bit, which earned me a bit of a glare from the one boy with black hair and a pale face. Finally, after they scooted, I sat down next to Jack and started to eat my nachos. As the game went on I nudged Jack every so often. And finally after a while, he pushed me back slightly. I laughed and he smiled at me. I opened my Gatorade and took a swig as the final quarter started. I had finished my nachos and Jack had eaten half of his pickle and drank his sprite. I threatened to eat the rest of the pickle if he didn’t finish it soon, and he quickly ate the rest, looking at me every so often. | Continue \/
After the game had finished, the Minks winning, 35-3 Madison looked at Jacks friends and said, “I’d better go, but it was nice to meet you. I’m Madison by the way.” I said as I extended my hand. Jack gave his friends a look. “I’m Eddie. Sorry not really a handshake guy.” Said the boy with long messy brown hair. I nodded then looked at the black haired boy, hand still extended. “I’m Samual, not really a handshaker either.” He said, but he nodded to me and I nodded back. “Well, nice to meet you guys. Maybe sometime I can introduce my friends to you guys. I’m sure you’d get along just swell.” I said as I stood and grabbed Jacks trash. As my friends rushed down the bleachers I pushed into their little rush and joined their race down the stairs. “Thank you!” I heard Jack call from behind me and I looked back quickly and smiled at him, then was shoved from behind by Jayden and stumbled a bit, continuing my race, but still thinking how great it would be if we could hang out again. We could all break the barriers between our schools, then maybe we could all actually get along for once. I sighed to myself, and muttered “You can only dream Madison.” End of Chapter 2
