content warning: I draw a lot of men without shirts on. You have been warned. What is art fight? I can't link it because of the Community Guidelines, but it's an online game where people draw each others' characters and have fun by competing on different teams. "Attack" is the same as "Drawing a picture for someone else." This year I am challenging myself to do an attack every day, and this is the first week! Comments on them each below. 1: Bono for HotSkeleton This was my first time drawing a halfbody with this new lineart style, and it was a make-or-break for the whole month for me to get it the way I wanted. I absolutely blew myself away here with how nice I got it to look, and I went into the week very inspired. Also, this was a revenge, meaning I was returning the art favor for someone else, and somehow they got me in the first three hours?? I am still shocked at how that is possible especially because the website was so slammed with activity. 2: Gared for... Gared Another revenge, this time for my friend Gared. He's new to art fight and I had been wanting to draw his sona for a while. I also tried an illusion background that looks like it ripples like a pool while only being squares. Overall, the contrast is lacking and I should have made the lineart darker. The anatomy isnt half bad though, for a body type i dont do often. 3: Beet for JayyBoyo When I saw this character I genuinely could not resist. He is so colorful and fun looking. I love object head ocs so much you have no idea. This time I experimented with a bigger frame of view and a more dynamic pose, which went really nicely. I also love his expression here, and the shading for his gloves and pants! they really are eye catching 4: S.S.G. for Another attack for one of my friends, this time one you can find on Scratch :3 He actually drew for me last year and I didn't get a chance to get my revenge, so this is me finally getting him! In hindsight, I'm glad I waited, because my artstyle this year is much better. Maybe next year itll be so good these look bad. Who knows? Also I tried new techniques for the chains and shading the anchor! Shiny 5: Alfresco for Yuhei_ubigoreng This one was a real treat- he's a freaking massive shark-crocodile. Love this character, and I am a huge fan of his owner's work. It took me a while to get the pose right, and my big breakthrough this time was with anatomy and shading muscles more accurately. I also tried a textmode-styled splash for the background, and I think it adds so much. I might do it next week. 6: Hatsu for Feol This one was a bit of a struggle because of the unique pose and environment. I used 's shader Dither to capture a Minecraft scene while still adhering to my color palette. I has a bit of a hard time doing all of Hatsu's arms, and his face. Creeper mouths really don't leave a lot of room for expression. 7: Dan for someRandomGamer I procrastinated this one so late and had to stay up to finish :') The body type was a huge jump for me and I had to go off of a pose reference from an artist I like. Overall though I'm really happy with how it ended up, he looks really nice. I used https://lospec.com/dither-pattern-generator/ to generate the background and it was really cool to try out. I've been meaning to use it since it came out a few weeks ago. Music: Paisley Patterns (off vocal) by Jamie Paige Week 2 on the 15th i hope
