______ LAN WANGJI Where is he? Where is Wei Ying? Even though we promised to go on our own journeys I can’t help but wonder… Where is Wei Ying now? Will I see him again soon? Cloud Recesses feels so empty without his presence. I still remember reading scrolls in the library while he transcribed the Lan principles. He got into so much trouble back then…. We were so young and foolish. After that time, it was just pure chaos, with most of the cultivation world after the Stygian Tiger Amulet, all those pointless sacrifices made for power.... And everyone Wei Ying lost.... I'm lucky I didn't lose him. Lan Wangji travels into the secluded area in the forest, towards the secluded area where the rabbits live. The breeze blows at his white ribbon and hair while the stream steadily trickles past. One of the rabbits hops over to Wangji, and he gently scoops the white bundle into his arms while watching the other rabbits graze. If only Wei Ying was here to see them, Lan Wanji thinks, his heart aching to be with him again. ______ WEI WUXIAN The Yiling Patriarch. I’m still known for that name after 16 years. After Lan Zhan and I went our separate ways, I’ve been drifting along like a boat with no anchor. Constantly moving, never staying in one place for long. I’ve had to fight resentful spirits that cross my path, but I’m careful not to unleash too much power, or let too much resentful energy in. I can’t sink back into Demonic Cultivation; its backlash cuts deeper than any sword. It would be easier if Lan Zhan was here to play me songs of healing on his guqin, its melody cutting through the pain; but playing Wangxian on Chenqing gives me enough peace to keep going through the darkness. I travel along an old dirt path, my boots crunching on small sticks as I climb over fallen logs. So far on my journey, I have crossed paths with a couple of cultivators, and they of course recognized me as the Yiling Patriarch, though I had no clue who they were. Well, maybe I knew them some time ago but not well enough that I would remember their faces. I long to see Hanguang-jun again. I look for signs of him passing through, but there is nothing. He has probably returned to Cloud Recesses to take care of his responsibilities. I wonder how it’s going, him being Chief Cultivator now…. Should I visit…? No. That will only stir up the past. Even though Zewu Jun and Lan Zhan are kind and welcoming towards me, I don’t want people to look down on the Lan because of it. Though, part of me longs to visit, to see the places in Gusu where I used to spend my time. I remember the night we met. I had sneaked into Cloud Recesses, carrying a jar of Emperors Smile, only to be caught by Lan Zhan on the roof. We had crossed blades in fight and he scolded me for breaking the Lan Clan of Gusu’s rules…. Heh. I wouldn’t mind so much to be scolded by him again. Even though I don't use my sword Suibian anymore I tell myself that it doesn't bother me. I just hope Jiang Cheng can put my core to good use. It’s annoying to not have the same cultivation powers, but demonic cultivation is good enough as long as I take time to heal. But I still find myself wishing to see Lan Zhan. I miss traveling and going on dangerous adventures, solving mysteries with him. What? Where did that come from? I shouldn’t think like that. I mean, I do want to see him again, but I really shouldn’t. I might not even be welcome in Cloud Recesses. Even though Lan Zhan is the Chief Cultivator, he can’t just let me in because he wants to….
