here's chap six! I woke up the next morning to a knock on my bedroom door. I got up and groggily opened the door, it was my dad. “Umm, your friend is here asking for a ride to church tonight. Im not against you having friends, but why did you tell him we could give him a ride? That doesn’t seem like something you would do.” I didn’t tell Carter that! Why has my plan backfired so bad so early. “I didn’t tell him that dad. Is he still here?” I asked “Yeah” My dad said “he’s talking to your mom in the living room.” This is now the worst day of my life. I walked into the living room still in my pajamas at eleven in the morning. Carter noticed and chuckled when he saw me, but continued talking with my mom. It’s not like my pajamas were weird or anything, plaid pajama pants with a loud Beatles t-shirt isn’t weird at all. “Hey Carter, what are you doing here?” I asked smiling. He and my mom looked at me, “Hey savannah!” Carter said “first off love the shirt,” I blushed “and second, your parents are giving me a ride to church because my parents are busy tonight.” “Oh cool!” I said glancing at my mom she rolled her eyes at me. “Oh one more thing.” Carter said “Your mom said we can hang out today. Thank you by the way Mrs.Graham. See you at two!” Carter got off the couch along with my mom and waved at me when he walked out the door. I looked at the ground waiting for my mom to speak. After a minute of her not saying anything I looked up to see she was gone. I heard her door close and realized she and my dad had gone into their room. I sighed and sat at the table to snack on the remnants of breakfast when Bree walked in. She looked at me and gave me two folded pieces of paper one labeled one and the other labeled two. I opened the first paper and it said ‘I know you like him even if mom and dad don’t yet. I made this for you I’d suggest you don’t let them see it.’ I opened the second paper it was a beautiful sketch of Carter laughing. I looked at Bree “thanks Bree-Bree.” I said on the verge of tears. Bree nodded and walked out I turned the picture of Carter over to find another paper taped onto the back. I opened the last paper this one was a picture of me and Carter smiling and holding hands. My head was laid on carter’s shoulder it was amazing, the spitting image of us. I sighed getting up from the table and walking to my room. When I got there I took a painting off my wall and put the pictures in between the frame and the canvas this was where I hid important things no one knew about it. I got dressed and read a book until around one forty when I got up and went into the living room trying to see if my parents were actually going to let me hang out today and, if so, where at. My brother John who was six sat next to me beaming “savannah guess what!” “What?” I asked “I caught a bug while we were playing outside!” “You don’t have it with you, do you?” I asked nervously I did not like bugs, well besides butterflies. [cont. belowwww]
[cont. keep scrolling!] “No Clare made me let it go” I laughed my eight year old sister Clare disliked bugs more than me. Mom walked in the living room then. “Are you ready to go?” “Where?” I asked “to the park” “um I guess?” “Come on and bring John, with his shoes this time.” Oh my gosh Carter is an amazing person, he got my mom to let me go back to the park! But I can see she still is wary by choosing to drive me there, she’s trying to disguise it as her just trying to put the baby to sleep, but I saw through that. We made it to the park and my mom told me she would be back in an hour to get me I nodded and heard Carter yell my name I looked at my mom “Bye momma.” “Bye baby.” I walk over to Carter and he wraps me in a side hug. I blush. Hard. “Carter!” I say embarrassed “what?” He said, he looked like he was actually confused. “Um uh, we need to talk.” Carter nodded and led me to a bench. We sat down on the bench and I wondered how to start, “Carter I know my mom seems like she didn’t really care if I came to the park, but that was actually a big deal. My mom is super protective and did not appreciate it when you came home with me. Now don’t get me wrong she wasn’t mad more like nervous. And I know she didn’t tell you, but she kinda put restrictions on our friendship. I can tell she is trying to get back in control of the situation so she can figure out how to keep me safe. I just wish she would realize I'm not that little anymore.” I was on the verge of tears Carter put his hand on mine “could you tell me the restrictions?” He asked softly a sympathetic smile on his face. I took a deep breath and told him that I couldn’t go to his house and how he could only come in the yard to hang out with parental permission. “Hmm,” Carter said “so I'm guessing the signs weren’t parentally approved, were they?” I shook my head “So your parents didn’t know about church.” I shook my head again. “I was trying to see you again,” I said slowly at first, debating what to say as I spoke, “To explain what was happening with my parents and…” “yes?" Carter asked turning my head to meet his eyes. I looked at his eyes for a moment, I was sure now, “to tell you that I love you.” Carter grinned and grasped my hand tightly “good thing savannah.” he said laughing “cause I love you too.” “You do?!?” I was baffled, I mean I guessed, but I never thought he actually loved me back. “Carter! What am I gonna do? We can’t date in secret that’s unethical. How am I going to tell my parents?” Carter looked at me a smirk on his face “im gonna walk you home again and tell your parents myself! You know they’re polite so maybe they’ll listen because its me asking if we can date and not you.” “They won’t go into protective mode if I'm not asking.” I said catching on to Carter’s plan. “Let’s go.” Carter said standing “Now? Okay.” I said standing as well “oh, hang on” I dug in my pocket and retrieved the picture Bree had drawn. “Oh my goodness.” Carter breathed taking the picture and studying it “did you draw this or was it…” “it was Bree” I said beaming. “It looks just like us!” “Yep this picture is what made me decide to tell you how I felt.” “Well come on savannah! Let’s go tell your parents!
