Chapter 21 - Duties Zelda's POV Link pulled me over to the large group of boys behind him for introductions. Link gestured to a boy, and he came over. He looked...awfully similar to Link. This Link introduced himself as Twilight. He also explained that almost every Link in the other dimensions was here, and what they were doing. "That's what the Zeldas are doing!" I exclaimed after the point where he said they were all trying to get back home. Link gave me a puzzled look. "Oh, yeah, the Zeldas are here too. They'll be arriving here soon." I said. Twilight's face lit up. "Is Midna coming, too?" He asked with so much hope in his eyes. "No. She insisted on staying behind in the korok forest when I left. Sorry." I said. Twilight dropped. "Oh. Okay." As he walked away, I turned to find Sheik right behind me. I jumped and Link caught me. "We will start soon, Zelda." Sheik said, entirely I bothered from my jump. "The Zeldas will be arriving soon." I righted myself and nodded. Link's POV It was late evening when the Zeldas arrived. I'm not sure what happened after that, but now, I stood on the large platform in front of the giant goddess statue. Goddess Hylia (That's what I think I heard Zelda call her) stood a few feet in front of me. She lifted her arms and suddenly she became a little ball of light and sank into the statue's heart. There was loud cracking and creaking, and suddenly the goddess statue moved and leaned down toward me and Zelda. "Another bunch?" She said, tilting her head slightly. I smiled at her. She noticed and gave a light chuckle. "Fearless, I see. A wild one." She froze, then she straightened up with a thoughtful expression. "Ah!" She said after a bit, leaning back down toward us. "I know who you two shall be." She placed a finger on Zelda's head. "You will be the Zelda of the Wild." She said. She moved her finger and placed it on my head as well. "You will be the Link of the Wild." She said. She pulled back and resumed her original position. "May your connection make you two stronger together." She said. Goddess Hylia suddenly appeared before us. Zelda yelped. "It's done." Goddess Hylia said. "Nice going, Wild!" I heard Sky say behing me. I turned and saw him waving. I waved back. "So..." I heard Zelda's voice say. I glanced at her. "We're...done now? Do we...get to go back?" Zelda asked. I noticed her rub her arm and look around. I turned and pulled her into a hug. She froze for a second. Then she hugged me in return. I pulled back with a smile. Around dawn, The Links and Zeldas started saying their goodbyes. I saw Sheik talking to Zelda near the wall of the temple. I blinked and suddenly Sheik was standing in front of me. "Zelda wants to go with you." She said, unbothered by my flinch. I nodded. She poked between my collarbones. "Protect her. Protect her with your LIFE, understand?" I nodded again. She turned away. "So, do you see what Twilight's doing?" Zelda asked from beside me. I turned toward the mixed group of Zeldas and Links. I scanned them. I scrunched my forehead when I didn't see twilight. "He's over there." Zelda said, pointing to the large archway. Twilight leaned against it, looking at a black crystal in his hand. "Oh, hey." Twilight says as we approached. "Hey. So, why aren't you with Twilight Zelda?" Zelda asked. He stared at the crystal in his hands. Something orange flickered from a few lines carved into it. "I'm not...we aren't..." Twilight started. Zelda glanced at Twilight Zelda, then back to Twilight, then back. Zelda lightly gasped. I gave her a concerned look. "Sorry." She said, looking at me. She looked back at Twilight. "You two never became a thing like everyone else." She said. Twilight paused. Then he nodded. "My heart belongs to someone else." He said. Zelda scratched behind her ear with a half confused, half thoughtful expression. After a bit, she perked up. "Is it Midna?" She asked him. Twilight glanced at her briefly before looking away. "Oh my gosh, it IS." Zelda said with slight excitement. "Midna said she met someone from another world that she fell in love with and was hoping to see again." Twilight perked up. "Seriously?" He said. Zelda bounced once on her toes. "Yeah! She said to meet her back in the Korok Village. Is that where we're going next?" Twilight nodded excitedly. "Yeah, that's where we're going." He said. Zelda grabbed my hand and started pulling me. My heart skipped a beat at her touch. "Then let's go!" She said.
