The Okinawa flightless rail found on the island of Okinawa in Yanbaru Forest. It is a flightless/near flightless rail that consumes fruits, invertebrates, nuts, and seeds. It is a skillful climber and runner ins ecosystem. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Conservation: Japan is a leader in humane, non-controversial predator management. For feral cats, they adopt, rehome, or shelter animals, depending on their ability to be housed. To prevent more ferals and strays from occuring, they encourage/mandate indoor cats, as well as sterilize them to ensure they cannot produce anymore litters. They also trap other invasives and address the situations from there. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Captive Populations & PGCs: In order to save the species, people are ensuring a backup colony exists, just in case the current wild population crashes. Scientistics are also attempting to cultivate PGCs of the Okinawa rail to further increase and support the current numbers in captivity.
