Proto is the replacement character for Patient C who was the big caveman guy. Proto (or Pal Howard which is his real name) is a superman like character who was once the mascot of the NMPC for a short amount of time. Proto's job was to protect citizens of Hakstone (which is officially the fictional location of Condemned) and to also exterminate all dangerous creatures like monsters or mutants. Mainly mutants. But due to Pal's morality, overtime Pal refuses to k!ll the innocent mutants. Due to this, the CEO punishes Pal by holding him containment underground torturing him with weapons and other devices to teach him disciple and obedience. Legend says he is still down there till this day.
Proto will be big part of the plot of season 2 or smth.
